> Free, automated, AI-powered plain-English breakdowns of U.S. federal omnibus appropriations bills — section by section, dollar by dollar.

OmnibusAI monitors Congress.gov for new appropriations and omnibus bills, downloads the full bill text in XML (USLM schema) from GovInfo.gov, parses it into its natural hierarchy (divisions, titles, sections) with dollar amounts extracted, then uses an AI language model to summarize each section in everyday language. The results are published on this site, organized by department and program area, with an RSS feed for new bills.

The service exists because omnibus spending bills fund the entire federal government yet run to 1,000+ pages of dense legislative text, and existing tools for understanding them are either paid (aimed at lobbyists and policy professionals) or sparse. All summaries are AI-generated and may contain errors — always verify against official sources such as Congress.gov. The site is non-partisan, educational (not legal or financial advice), and open source.
